the nose trimmer works well, but the electric razor not well at all. Does not cut at all. I would suggest the nose trimmer but not the razor. the cost was a little high for the product.

I’ve been using this product and its very-similar predecessors since the early 80’s. I’ve owned Norelco’s (which were scary random hair-yanking machines back then) and also more-expensive Panasonic wet-dry shavers (which worked as well as this one, or better). For my purposes, though, I keep coming back to this one. I nearly always use this shaver while showering. The advantages of wet-shaving are that the water spray keeps the screen free and clear of accumulation, both short-term and long (If I hold the unit in the shower spray for a moment while it is running, it just does not collect any build-up for me), and the hot water naturally softens my beard so that it cuts easily and closely (this also prolongs the life of the blades and screen). I can shave by feel, rubbing my finger over the area, which also erects the stubble just before the shaver passes over it. I go the the gym frequently, so I keep this compact and durable unit in my gym bag and use it in the shower there. It uses two AA batteries, either standard or rechargeable. I just keep a fresh pair of batteries in the little drawstring bag that comes with it, because they last so long (about 2-3 months of once-daily use), but give up pretty suddenly when they are finally discharged… so I can quickly and easily swap them out whenever I need to (just be sure to keep the sealed inner workings dry when the case is open or you’ll invite corrosion, naturally). I don’t expect ANY electric shaver to do it all. I use a disposable blade razor to clean up, especially on my neck, after the shower. I also use olive or almond oil on my skin when it is wet, and this is what I use as a shaving aid, as well. I’ve never used shaving cream or gels in my life, so maybe the oil/water combo is part of what keeps this unit so free-flushing and clean during use. I usually buy a new unit every year or two, just to have sharp cutters (it’s usually more cost-effective than buying just replacement cutters). This shaver is a good, very simple, reliable unit. (Note that there is no sideburn trimmer, per se.)

The nose trimmer unit is good, won’t yank hair unless *maybe* if the battery is almost dead and the cutter isn’t spinning fast enough to cut? (I haven’t been brave enough to test this out!) More-recent versions of this model have improved the cutting blade from a shear-action spring blade to an actual sharpened cutting blade. I wet the cutting parts with water just before using to provide some lubricity and get it up to speed, and it works very well that way. The cutting head disassembles and reassembles easily for cleaning under running water, keeping it sanitary.

I bought three of these because I like them so much. One for travel, one for bathroom and for the desk for “touch-ups”. It works great. Lasts a long time on the batteries. I highly recommend it.
