Though it seems well made and stout and has plenty of power, mine developed a problem in less then 30 seconds of use – the cutting piece stopped moving back and forth. It jammed. I took the bottom ‘holder’ piece off and reset it and oiled it well and it started working again, but I’m unsure if the same issue won’t come back as there isn’t a proper groove or position for this bottom piece to be in, near as I can tell. For this reason, I gave it but 3 stars. If, however it continues to cut well (which it did before it jammed) and the problem doesn’t come back, then it would be easily worth a 5 star rating. Good Luck!

First trimming came out all right and after that I noticed it did not perform as first time. It is still working though and doing the job done sort of thing.

this is my second Andis product. There was just something i liked about Andis, not sure…maybe it was the name “Andis.” 1st clipper/trimmer I bought called the Junior or something like that, the clipping mechanism broke after a few weeks and had to be held together by tape- and finally it was on and then just blew up after around a year of light use. It just made a spark type of sound then just stopped or “died.”

    The Speedmaster was my second.

I use it once a week for around 5 minutes.

For first 5 months it was great. Very pleased. But sometimes it would pull or tug at my hair, so i stuck a qtip in the clipper mechanism to clear the hairs out, then it worked smooth again. So then i started learning about “oiling” these things. So fine. Then I decided to unscrew the clipping mechanism and I couldnt put it back together so I gave it to my barber. After he put it back together for me, its been tugging and pulling at my hair , plus, its a bit noiser. I cant understand why im having these problems with andis speedmaster.I use the thing once a week…perhaps I just have “bad luck with Andis.” Im gonna send it in to them to repair it. And I’ll send them that Junior clipper too.

I have owned many clippers through the years and this now is the only brand I will ever use. I have had them for over a year and every time I cut my hair it is like they are brand new.

When I bought these clippers July 2008, they worked fairly well for a few weeks for trimming my beard but then stopped cutting consistently. Since I live within a few miles of Sturtevant, I brought the clipper set to the Andis factory to see about getting them repaired. Instead they took my information and gave me a replacement on the spot.

The replacement sounded different than the original, much quieter and slower-sounding, but still it was apparently the same model. It worked well as far as I knew, but recently I tried using it to trim the hair on my head. Beard hair, being far coarser, gets cut fairly easily, but cutting head hair using anything but the shortest attachments is virtually impossible. Using the one-inch comb, the clippers were more likely to push the hairs out of the way than to actually cut them!
